Momote Manus Airport - MAS Lorengau
The Momote Manus Airport is located within Lorengau, Papua New Guinea, in one of its Admirality Islands. It serves Los Negros Island and connects it to regional cities. The public airport has an IATA code of MAS, and traces its history during World War II. The airport was constructed by the Japanese military, and was first called the Hayne Airfield after the island surrounding the area. The US Army occupied the airport in 1944, and it began operational in the same year. Further improvements were made but at that time it served mostly as a military base. Near the airport are some budget-friendly hotels that offer free shuttle services to and from the MAS Lorengau Airport.
Best Time to Visit
