The city’s name came about from the lake of the same name found nearby. There is an opposing weather for both half of the year over at Spirit Lake. Half the year, it is warm and comfortable. Otherwise, it is windy, freezing, and covered in snow. The middle months of the year, between June and August, when the skies are clear and the sun is shining bright in the city. These are the perfect months to visit the city if you plan on doing some historic walking tours. Many tourists prefer to come around winter season as there are ski lifts close by so you need not to worry about expensive Spirit Lake hotels.

The Spirit Lake is undoubtedly one of the most popular attraction in the city. You can find trails within the area in which you can jog, hike, or bike around. One of the largest theme parks in the north coast is called the Silverwood Theme Parks. There are almost a hundred rides and activity areas to choose from. If you like golfing, two notable golf courses such as Twin Lakes Village and Stoneridge are just a few minutes away from the city center. With cabin-like accommodations and nestled in a thick forest, the Moose Inn is the nearest Spirit Lake hotel you can find that is well within a short budget.
