Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport is a public airport with an airport code of ABV situated 20 kilometers west of Abuja, Nigeria. The airport serves as the primary airport catering the capital of Nigeria as well as its nearby cities of Abuja and Jabi. It is owned and operated by Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, constructed in 2000 and was opened for public operations in 2002 and named after Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nigeria’s first President. In March 8 2017, the airport was closed for repair of its damaged runway and re-opened in April 18, 2017. December of 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari initiated a construction of new terminal that can accommodate an annual 15 million passengers.
