Situated in downtown Anchorage, Alaska,the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts is a performing venue that was opened to the public in 1988 and hosts over 200,000 people annually. The centre is consist of three theatres; the Discovery Theatre, which is used for smaller-scale operas, theatre, film and musical presentations, and dances. It has 700 seats. The Evangeline Atwood Concert Hall is a 2,000-seater that is designated for dance and Broadway musicals as well as symphonic, opera, popular music and chamber presentations. The last one is the Sydney Laurence Theatre, that is named after the painter, Sydney Laurence and has 340 seats. It is mainly used for theatre, film and chamber music. Ride a bus and take a quick tour to nearby towns such as the Big Lake and the Chickaloon.
