Cheyenne: The Museum Capital of Oklahoma
Cheyenne is a quiet town that is part of the Roger Mills County of Oklahoma. Historically, it is known for being the location of the 1868 Battle of Washita. Part of its colorful past also includes a struggle to gain their independence from a neighboring town called Strong City. Now, it is recognized for its investment to preserve history as evidenced by its six museum complexes. Cheyenne can be accessed via car or train from the Will Rogers World Airport. There is also another airport nearby, the Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport, but it only caters to domestic flights. Travelers who frequent this town usually use this place as a stopover so it has many hotels and other choices of accommodations along its main route.

Historic sites in Cheyenne draw a lot of travelers all-year-round. However, this town is exceptionally busy during the month of September since a lot of people go here to hunt deer, antelopes and other animals in the wild.
