Wilmington Airport – ILG Wilmington
Also commonly known as the New Castle Airport, Wilmington Airport is a public-use airport that serves the city of Wilmington. It is located in New Castle County, Delaware and is owned by the Delaware River and Bay Authority. Frontier Airlines used to operate in the airport and boosted the enplanements in 2013 to 52,456 passenger boarding. But then the airline ceased its operations in the airport during 2015, making Delaware the only state in the U.S. without regularly scheduled airline service.
Best Time to Visit
ILG-Wilmington Airport covers 506 hectares of land and has three asphalt runways. There are no restaurants and souvenir shops inside the terminal building but there are surely a lot of them just outside the airport. Tinicum Townshipis a town near ILG airport and is also called the Tinicum Island. The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge is one of the popular tourist spots in the place attracting visitors all year round.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Unfortunately, Wilmington Airport (ILG) has no on-site hotels but there are a lot just outside the airport. The Sheraton Wilmington South Hoteloffers accommodation located directly off Interstate 95. Each guest room is provided with a work desk and a 37-inch flat-screen TV. Selected rooms also have a fridge and microwave. Guests can take a dip at the hotel’s indoor heated pool or dine at the restaurant that serves American cuisine. Quality Inn and Suites Skywaysis also another hotel that offers accommodation near the ILG.
