Pangaio: A Scenic Sanctuary
Named after the hills where it stands, Pangaio, Greece, is a municipality located in the Kavala regional unit in Greece. In its vicinity is a forest ecosystem that is a wildlife sanctuary. The town’s centerpiece includes several traditional architectures, including monasteries and churches. Most visitors to Pangaio enjoy activities like hiking, hand gliding, rock climbing, and mountain biking.
Best Time to Visit
Tourists troop to Pangaio in hordes during August, January, and June since the weather in Pangaio is ideal for enjoying outdoor activities. Rates of Pangaio hotels are pricier during this period, but purchasing ahead of time can bring substantial savings. Tourists also come in droves during the summer for one of the many music and arts festivals in nearby Kavala. Crowds thin out in December so it is the least expensive time to travel to Pangaio.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Spend a few hours at Eikosifoinissa Monastery in Kavala, considered one of the most significant sacred places in that part of the country, afterward hit the most popular and scenic beach in northern Greece, Ammolofoi Beach with its crystal clear and shallow waters. The family-owned Villa Nickolas in Palio is a good choice of lodgings in the area. So is the Lucy Hotel, a beautiful 5-star beachfront hotel with modern rooms and suites. The Lydia Hotel has traditionally-decorated rooms and near some archaeological sites.
