The Royal Manitoba Theater Centre is the oldest English-language regional theatre in Canada. It was founded in 1958. The current theatre building opened in October 1970 with a construction cost of $2.5 million. Located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the theatre has a Royal Designation, which a granted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2010, thus changing its name to the Royal Manitoba Theater Centre.
