Ulukhaktok/Holman Airport – YHI Holman
Ulukhaktok/Holman Airport (YHI) is located in the city of Holman, Northwest Territories in Canada. This airport became fully operational in 1978 after the runway construction was fully completed. YHI Airport is situated 2.3 miles from Holman wherein a small bridge and a road were built for easy access. The Northwest Territories government runs this public facility.
Best Time to Visit
Before the airport was built, all aircrafts used the town and ice trip as its runway. The old runway was located on the shore of Jacks Bay situated in the town center. Due to the limitations of landing aircrafts in the city, a runway was built to accommodate flights as well as bigger aircrafts. Construction of the runway began in 1976.
There are two airlines operating in YHI Airport, First Air and Kenn Borek. First Air has flights to Yellowknife and Kugluktuk while Kenn Borek Air operated by Aklak Air flies to Inuvik. There is one scheduled flight departing from YHI-Holman Airport daily. YHI serves the city of Holman.
