Nanisivik Airport – YSR Nunavut
Nanisivik is an admirable city in Nunavut, Canada. Nanisivik Airport or YSR airport code is located 15 kilometers south of Nunavut, Canada and managed by the government of Nunavut. The airport was functioning in 2011 and was utilised as the main airport for Arctic Bay. Prime Minister Stephen Harper declared of putting up a new landing and refuelling facility in the airport for Canadian Armed Forces. The facility is expected to be working on summer 2019.

The YSR-Nanisivik Airport which is 16 miles from Arctic Bay was utilized for scheduled flights and First Air carried all air services with a new extensive airport service to Iqaluit and Resolute Bay. The initial runway at 1,500 ft was the smallest in Nunavut. It was deactivated in 2010 and presently marked with two “X’s” on both ends. The latest runway which measures 3,935 ft was created to the south including a new terminal airport. That airport at present can serve general air transport to smaller turboprop aircraft.
