Akron–Canton Airport – CAK
The Akron–Canton Airport is a commercial airport in the U.S. State of Ohio. The airport is located in the city of Green, Southern Summit County, 16-kilometer southeast of Akron and serves Green, Ohio and the nearby towns. It is considered a reliever airport for Northeast Ohio but claimed “A better way to go” against Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The Akron-Canton Airport, whose airport code is CAK, dates back to the World War II when public funds were allocated for construction of an airport. From 2012 until present the airport witnessed the decreased of passenger traffic.

The CAK-Akron-Canton Airport land where it is built was bought during the World War II intended for defence purposes. It was opened in 1946 the name wasAkron–Canton–Massillon Airportand was later changed to Akron-Canton Regional Airport. In 1948, passenger air service began. There was a need for a permanent terminal construction and it was done in 1955 and further expanded in 1962. The airport experienced a fast increase of passenger’s frequency in 2000 and onwards. It became one of the fastest-growing airports in the Midwest. But in 2012, a significant decline was felt and has continued until today. As of 2018, the airport became the 2nd declining as far as passenger count is concerned. The nearest cities from the airport are Sheffield Lake, Solon, and Avon.
