These include Futura Airlines and Paradise Airlines. In 1964, there was a fatal accident involving Paradise Airlines, leading the airline to cease operations. In the 1960s and 1970s, Holiday Airlines operated with turboprop aircrafts at the airport. During the said period, Sierra Pacific Airlines was also operating flights to Monterey, Oakland, San Jose, and San Francisco. Tahoe Air had financial difficulties in the late 1990s. As a result, it ceased operations in 1999. Allegiant Air also ceased all its operations at Lake Tahoe Airport in 2000, eventually becoming a low-cost carrier. Since then, the airport has had no scheduled commercial flights. Other airlines that served the airport in the past include Air California, Air Pacific, Alpha Air, American Airlines, American Eagle, Golden West Airlines, among others. Currently, Sacramento International Airport and Reno-Tahoe International Airport serve the airport. Popular destinations nearby include Black Rapids, Reno, and Verdi.
